Do You Know The Secret To Rhonda Byrne’s “The Secret”?

Tell me something, my dedicated and loyal readers, are you a fan of the book “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne? It must be a fine book, well at least babygirl Oprah Winfrey thinks so. “So you believe everything Oprah Winfrey says, huh”, I hear you...but, maybe you are really expressing your own reliance upon Miss. Winfrey’s guidance, which is usually beneficial - indeed. Now...now...now, before you all say I’m being alittle too defensive - I mean you no harm fair ones. I’m just presenting my views, I love you guys. Next.

Rhonda Byrne, author of “The Secret”, must have hear and read the ideas contained in the book, I for one surely have. And I heard them a long time ago and I ain’t the only one. This is not a knock on Rhonda Byrne or her popular book, “The Secret”. Again...I’m only expressing a personal view, but true view, and nothing more. Now I will reveal where I first discovered the thoughts and course of action prescribed in “The Secret”. There are to famous books from days gone by that present the same program that makes up the contents of Rhonda Byrne’s book. “Think & Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, the other by Claude M. Bristol called “The Magic of Believing”, both books - gems in the field of personal development and self-help - contain what you see and read in “The Secret”. Take a look.

Now, know this, Rhonda Byrne has done a great service by reigniting the flame of personal development and self-help. “The Secret” is a valuable book for our personal development if put into action - put into action - being the real “secret”. It is valuable in that it has awakened interest in mankind’s inner resources, in his ability to totally change his life for the better solely through using his god-given will-power. There is certainly room on the shelf for “The Secret”, it deserves a spot along side its predecessors: Napoleon Hill’s “Think & Grow Rich” and Claude M. Bristol’s “The Magic of Believing”. Oprah’s with it for some reason - remember - she definitely doesn’t need the money.

The Secret is the latest and by far the worst example of a HIGHLY profitable trend where self-help gurus with fabricated new age titles and little relevant education, credentials or legitimate expertise brainwash us into believing that they know what is best for us, our marriages and our families.

Often their only contribution to society is introducing some exotic sounding, new age philosophy. However, they often cleverly form an incestuous group of like-minded “experts” who cross-promote each other by swearing their success is due to following the beliefs of another member of their “cult!” All the while, they ply the airwaves jockeying for an ever-larger audience by appearing in the national media to garner third-party endorsements.

The Self-Help Movement has become the Self-Destruct Movement by diminishing or destroying our critical thinking skills to choose and evolve on our own. We have given up the freedom to build healthy lives, marriages and families based on our unique history and life experience. Instead many victims, blinded to the value of their own life experiences, are attracted to the latest secret in self-help, in an attempt to find out what they should think, feel and how they should act... this is the definition of a cult.

The solution is a return to our (common) senses! The best way out of this learned “self-helplessness” is to go cold turkey. Stop following ALL self-help gurus now. Begin, instead, to reclaim your natural, God-given ability to think for yourself. The common sense that was once readily available to all of us is still there free of charge and waiting to be applied to just about any challenge we might face in life… all you have to do is use it.

Please, let's all work together to stop the flock of "sheepeople" who blindly move from one UNPROVEN concept to the next, looking for the answers to life's challenges that you already possess and that is the OBVIOUS!

Outstanding jcurtis, you said it all, you hit the nail real hard. The two earlier publications mentioned championed "The Secrets" ideas decades ago. They did so in a more earthly, natural way...no new age vocabulary or influence, just plain ole self-improvement philosophy - earnestly attempting to change one's life by dealing with one's thought and actions - great books - I bought both books.

"The Secret" is , indeed, steeped in new age ideas which wasn't the case back when the books mentioned adove were printed. Yes, many people fall for every otherworldly idea out there but I belief is that Oprah does have some kind of belief in the steps presented in Rhonda's book. The core of these philosophies is that we can improve or lives and ourselves without drugs, etc. and make changes in our life solely by belief in ourselves and determination. These are quite more than "new age" ideas, they are age-old, tried and truth concepts. These concepts have always been with us, there just recycled and restructured by various individuals - some solely for profit.

So, anyway we see it, "personal development" or "self-help" material is here, produced by any and everybody. We just have to learn to separate the chaff from the wheat and be cautious about what we allow to influence our minds and bodies.

And yes, we "sheep people" need to be much more careful out here.

chuck, thaks for stopping, sounds like your a fan of Napoleon Hill. Yeah, I agree it is a good book, very strong ideas. Application is key. Success is always a possibility, not a right. Appling what's needed brings SUCCESS into over lives.

Keep "Thinking And Grow Rich".
