What A Martial Artist: Bruce Lee

This was one tough homie, I mean he could jab, he could punch, he could kick, and he could use them nunchakus like they were an extension of his body. This man was a one man army...one opf the best martial artist the world will ever see. Bruce Lee was a wonder to behold, his martial art skills were legendary and he was definitely a super dedicated student of the Far Eastern philosophy.

Bruce Lee is the the person that hearlded in the then “new” chinese, asian methods of fighting and combat. Mr. Lee had all of us howling and mimicking the fighters from the Far East...and I was one of them. When I was a little guy growing up in the “hood”, me and most of my buddies were wild about this guy from China named Bruce Lee. This entertaining martial art expert was some entertainer - we felt our manhood when we saw Bruce Lee in one of his movies...his fighting was so unique..."he seems so real"...we would say, “Bruce Lee is one of us, he don’t take no mess...he’s just like us”. We use to make nunchakus out of used, old broomsticks(a new one would have been preferred but momma-sensei wasn't having that, hah...haaa...). Hey...don’t discard them old, wornout brooms....I might want to make another pair of nunchakus. Bruce Lee and his martial art friends would be proud.

A lot of you may see Bruce in a not so kind light. “Wasn’t he dangerous?" "Who could want to praise a warmonger, a violent person?" Alright, I will give you that. But do remember that martial art and martial art followers mainly persue the fighting discipline not as an offensive strategy but as a means to avoid or combat aggression. Bruce Lee was a strong advocate of this usage of kung-fu and the other forms of asian fighting. He was real martial artist and a nice man to boot.

Like I say, Bruce Lee was one exciting cat and deserves all the accolades we and the rest of the world can give his memory. I for one will always miss the guy who’s influence possessed me to the point where I was cutting and chopping up my mother’s broomsticks...man...this Bruce Lee must’ve had “it”. Yes, he did.

Maybe The Poetry Of Alfred, Lord Tennyson Can Help

Want to lift you spirits? Well, how about this? - let’s learn to jot down some poetry - poetry can really bring a dull mind up, and help one see life from a whole new spectrum. Most of you reading this think you would only be wasting thy precious time reading poems and writing poetry - I beg to differ. Alfred Tennyson, Robert Bly, David Thoreau, William Blake, Emily Dickinson, James Joyce, Joanna Baillie - all great poets who found great dimensions in the use of the written word. These poetry lovers and many more just like them, see here: all about poets, thought man could, and can see more into his existence by expressing himself through the written word. Go there and find wonderful poets and consciousness-raising poetry that I’m sure will enlighten your mental state. Words can hurt - but they can also heal.

Poetry is founded not just on the the abilty to rhyme words, that’s not the sole reason or foundation for the creation of poetry. A poet attempts to convey his or her inner perception - their soul - regarding a given subject or subjects. Poems are his medium.They want to communicate their feelings in a direct way - away that can startle and confuse our so mudane minds. Take this, read this sampling from Alfred, Lord Tennyson(1809-1892):

“Ring Out, Wild Bells"

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light;
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.
Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
Ring out the grief that saps the mind,
For those that here we see no more,
Ring out the feud of rich and poor,
Ring in redress to all mankind.
Ring out a slowly dying cause,
And ancient forms of party strife;
Ring in the nobler modes of life,
With sweeter manners, purer laws.
Ring out the want, the care, the sin,
The faithless coldness of the times;
Ring out, ring out thy mournful rhymes,
But ring the fuller minstrel in.
Ring out false pride in place and blood,
The civic slander and the spite;
Ring in the love of truth and right,
Ring in the common love of good.
Ring out old shapes of foul disease,
Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
Ring out the thousand wars of old,
Ring in the thousand years of peace.
Ring in the valiant man and free,
The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
Ring out the darkness of the land,
Ring in the Christ that is to be.

See how this poet used his soul speech to take us whirlwinding through the mystical wonderland of a great poet, this is poetry to shake the “soul”. I bow to you in thankfulness, oh Lord Tennyson. You have just entered the inner sanctum of this great poets mind, time has no influence here, his dear words are as powerful today as they were when first put to paper in the year 1850 - be assured, time carries no strengh in these realms...dear one. And another by Emily Dickinson(1830-1886):

“A Day”

I'll tell you how the sun rose, -
A ribbon at a time.
The steeples swam in amethyst,
The news like squirrels ran.

The hills untied their bonnets,
The bobolinks begun.
Then I said softly to myself,
"That must have been the sun!"

But how he set, I know not.
There seemed a purple stile
Which little yellow boys and girls
Were climbing all the while

Till when they reached the other side,
A dominic in gray
Put gently up the evening bars,
And led the flock away.

How she touches the mind and senses so delicately, how we flow innocently into the living streams of her so fulfilling utterances. This be fine poetry, indeed. But, mind you; not all poetry is so lightening, so soft - some poetry hits like a sledge hammer - calling for movement, action on the part of its receiver. No...no...no...some poets seek to get us to act , to move in a certain direction. Oh yes, my friend, becoming a poet will take all of you and that is what life asks of us - ALL.

Andy Warhol Changed The Modern Art World

My early thoughts about this art world icon were sorely incomplete and inwardly deceptive, this figure had a very silent but exposive personality that caused everyone who met him to misinterpret him. Behind the blonde hair and nu vogue wardrobe lied a rather intriquing and accomplished visual artist - an artist that would change society and help usher in the “pop culture". Andy Warhol was a catalyst for a new world structuralization of our normal psyche, revealing a new and a exciting chapter in our ways of viewing the art world. He showed that the visual arts can commune with and influence all in a very profund way.

The vision of Andy Warhol was in the changing of what we as consumers of visual communication consider art, and thereby challenging the established criteria by which the arts are judged by the art world elite. Warhol’s cans, portraits and other works were an attempt to lead the way in this direction. Since his rampage on the art scene, art has become more accessible to the average man and woman. Many shied away from the art world now feel more included and comfortable relating about art, and its expressive ambiance and ability to influence culture and our daily lives.

We say thank you Andy Warhols, and may your creativity continue to inspire future generations.

What this blog is really about

Hello everyone,

I'm going to express what the mission of this blog is. Through this blog I hope to communicate my thoughts about the art world and the music industry. Also, I will talk about spiritual and everyday matters, the things that we all live with every single day. This is a complete, full spectrum blog that has many interesting twists and turns that will always leave you with something. That being said, I feel you would all like to know some things about me. Well, I'm a professional artist and recording artist who always gives his best. I feel my art has an obvious uniqueness and my music has this quality also. When you view my artwork you immediately have a reaction to the work, you will get a certain feeling - this feeling is what I'm trying to communicate through the colors, objects and composition. I'm communicating an event. My music, the verses, the notes all have a story to relate - you feel every note(vocal and/or instrumental). Once again, its that event right before your senses. The arts should say something to us, that is what makes them so different. That's the sole reason I do them.

Now, in this life there are certaintly more issues to cover than the arts, that's why I will also express my beliefs, opinions and experiences in all areas of life. I have no problem with that, I live a very full life, you better believe it. I've researched and understand a whole lot of subjects, I'm well read and well experienced. You all can see that my thoughts and ideas are extremely clear and lucid. The information I will provide will prove to be very trustworthy - information that in most cases comes from my personal experience. So come here often and enjoy the experience that awaits. As you know truth is the rule and this blog lives in that. I'll get back to y'all later, see ya.
