Maybe The Poetry Of Alfred, Lord Tennyson Can Help

Want to lift you spirits? Well, how about this? - let’s learn to jot down some poetry - poetry can really bring a dull mind up, and help one see life from a whole new spectrum. Most of you reading this think you would only be wasting thy precious time reading poems and writing poetry - I beg to differ. Alfred Tennyson, Robert Bly, David Thoreau, William Blake, Emily Dickinson, James Joyce, Joanna Baillie - all great poets who found great dimensions in the use of the written word. These poetry lovers and many more just like them, see here: all about poets, thought man could, and can see more into his existence by expressing himself through the written word. Go there and find wonderful poets and consciousness-raising poetry that I’m sure will enlighten your mental state. Words can hurt - but they can also heal.

Poetry is founded not just on the the abilty to rhyme words, that’s not the sole reason or foundation for the creation of poetry. A poet attempts to convey his or her inner perception - their soul - regarding a given subject or subjects. Poems are his medium.They want to communicate their feelings in a direct way - away that can startle and confuse our so mudane minds. Take this, read this sampling from Alfred, Lord Tennyson(1809-1892):

“Ring Out, Wild Bells"

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light;
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.
Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
Ring out the grief that saps the mind,
For those that here we see no more,
Ring out the feud of rich and poor,
Ring in redress to all mankind.
Ring out a slowly dying cause,
And ancient forms of party strife;
Ring in the nobler modes of life,
With sweeter manners, purer laws.
Ring out the want, the care, the sin,
The faithless coldness of the times;
Ring out, ring out thy mournful rhymes,
But ring the fuller minstrel in.
Ring out false pride in place and blood,
The civic slander and the spite;
Ring in the love of truth and right,
Ring in the common love of good.
Ring out old shapes of foul disease,
Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
Ring out the thousand wars of old,
Ring in the thousand years of peace.
Ring in the valiant man and free,
The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
Ring out the darkness of the land,
Ring in the Christ that is to be.

See how this poet used his soul speech to take us whirlwinding through the mystical wonderland of a great poet, this is poetry to shake the “soul”. I bow to you in thankfulness, oh Lord Tennyson. You have just entered the inner sanctum of this great poets mind, time has no influence here, his dear words are as powerful today as they were when first put to paper in the year 1850 - be assured, time carries no strengh in these realms...dear one. And another by Emily Dickinson(1830-1886):

“A Day”

I'll tell you how the sun rose, -
A ribbon at a time.
The steeples swam in amethyst,
The news like squirrels ran.

The hills untied their bonnets,
The bobolinks begun.
Then I said softly to myself,
"That must have been the sun!"

But how he set, I know not.
There seemed a purple stile
Which little yellow boys and girls
Were climbing all the while

Till when they reached the other side,
A dominic in gray
Put gently up the evening bars,
And led the flock away.

How she touches the mind and senses so delicately, how we flow innocently into the living streams of her so fulfilling utterances. This be fine poetry, indeed. But, mind you; not all poetry is so lightening, so soft - some poetry hits like a sledge hammer - calling for movement, action on the part of its receiver. No...no...no...some poets seek to get us to act , to move in a certain direction. Oh yes, my friend, becoming a poet will take all of you and that is what life asks of us - ALL.

Test Your Brain With These Optical Illusions

In the world of science we find many unbelievable things. The science called psychology has discovered that our minds can perceive objects in error. We take our optical apparatus for granted; we never analyse the processes by which we see things. Psychologist discovered flaws in our visual area when we view certain designs and shapes. The brain was found to add nonexisting objects to that being observed, thereby providing delusional data. Below, I have provided some images that will startle you; cause you to reexamine the trust we have placed in on our optical facilities. These figures will awaken curiousity about man’s way of seeing his environment. Our brain processes information in quite astonishing ways. The optic nerve, with its synaspes and neurons, relays light impulses to our brain in the most complex and mysterious of manners. In this operation the brain can be fooled and present us with what is termed an “optical illusion” - carefully observe and enjoy these items:

1. In viewing this figure you will see an optical illusion - a white triangle that does not truly exist:

2. Here your brain sees three totally different images, instead of one - a vase and two opposing faces:

3. Look closely at the lines of this image, you eyes will immediately present you with an almost 3D effect:

4. This figure seems to change its shape:

Optical illusions are so much fun and one can get lost in them for hours, but they also present us with the sobering question: “ Can we trust our eyes and mind at all times?”. Considering the above information, the answer has to be “No”. Before reading this article you thought your brain and mind were always to be trusted, now you know that is a fallacy. Science may eventually understand the effects these figures provoke in our consciousness, but for now, these reactions remain a mystery. You like everyone else who has ever viewed these images for the first time, were astonished. You were left totally puzzled and perplexed, even annoyed that such things exist. Our mental makeup has made no room for such hallucinations. Our minds simply reject what cannot be understood. These designs are useful in that they cause us to be more alert and attentive in our everyday lives, and that can only be to our benefit.

All of these images produce results we could in no way have anticipated, and by having experienced them, we are left with a newfound knowledge pertaining of our mental and visual machinisms. The fields of science and psychology are engaged in constant research in an effort to answer the perceptive riddles presented by these images. Let these qualified and astute individuals find the causes of these so interesting figures. Maybe one day they will discover the causes behind these optical illusions, until that time arrives, we can just continue to be intrigued and astonished by this type of imagery.

These images always shock my mind, no matter how many times I view them. Did you find the images interesting?

LET’S TALK! - Leave a comments.

A History Of Art Showcasing

Read this, Fam':

A History Of Art Showcasing

Encasing art in a decorative enclosure has been a technique that has been used since ancient times. It really became popular during the middle ages; artwork was and still is used for status, community well-being and other purposes. Art serves the vital need in man to express himself. Mankind uses art objects to give his environment feeling, to bring that impossible quality to life, a quality that can’t be explained in words, but is always communicated through art.

Presentation Of Art

The presentation of art without picture framing certainly takes nothing away from the piece, but putting that artwork in a harmonious surrrounding adds something to the piece. Art that is enclosed causes our eyes to go directly to the work of art you are viewing, and If it has an eye-catching, attractve picture framing, the art will benefit from the added visual appeal of the enclosure. This has been known before the medieval days; art that is framed has an extra ambiance.

The Type Of Picture Framing

The artwork can’t be placed in just any enclosure; the frame has to accentuate the piece in a some way. Think about the art in the Vatican, in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the framing is exquisite, the art has a lasting effect on us. Now, there are variables to consider when choosing what will best showcase the art. Below I have tabulated these.

You will have to choose between various shapes, these are: circular, triangular, square, non-geometric, and of course, the traditional rectangular designs. All of these shapes have individual qualities that will influence the art in quite real ways. The shape of the frame should be a thought out decision, carelessness in this area can ruin some, or all of the essence of the artwork.

Size is another consideration, the picture frame can be close to the size of the art or it can be much larger. You must choose the picture frame that affects you. Frame size will definitely affect the overall feel of the piece of artwork.

Next, color, you must select an appropriate color or colors. The color(s) do not necessarially have to be the color(s) in the artwork. This decision has to come from the depths of your being; the same process used to select the art must now be used to choose the color(s) of the picture framing. Once again, go with your feelings. Art is about feeling.

Design, the frame will usually have some type of pattern in it, be lines, carvings or molded forms. These can consist of all kinds of creativity, from the plain, to the very detailed. The frame can, in some cases, outshine the art that it encloses. This is not an infrequent occurance. Choose wisely.

Finally, frames are made from a variety of materials. You can have wood(the most common material), metal, porcelain, ceramic and a host of others. They all have a different effect to give. Wood for instance, with its sturdy, natural quality adds a very homely and strong feel to a work of art, as if the wood itself is sheltering the picture or image. Take your time to feel what the material of the frame is saying. This is the world of art.

Art is fascinating and can bring lots of upliftment in our lives. Choose artwork that has a connection with you. If you do this one thing; you can look forward to many years of satisfaction in the viewing of your artwork. There is insightful information above, read it often. I know you want picture framing that adds to your art, not take from it. So, go ahead, armed with your new insight, and get the frame that works.

The subjects in my art prints

Hi,
Art prints are a great way to buy art. You can have a piece of art at a much lower price that is identical to the original painting or drawing. That piece will have the same quality and effect as the higher priced piece. But it will not have the same resale and auction value as the original artwork. You still get a work of art that makes your surroundings more interesting. A plain wall will be brought to life with the right piece of art. An art print will most certainly accomplish this goal. On my website: Framed Art you can buy art prints that I created, go there and you will see some amazing artwork. When creating a painting or illustration I try to capture the feeling that a given subject projects. For instance, my "Red Is Sweet"(shown above) art print gives one the feelings of country life, of farm life. My artwork always provokes a feeling each and everytime. Anyone who views my art comes away with a feeling that is transmitted through the art itself, the images were chosen for a precise effect. Enjoy the art in life. 'Til next time.
