Bobby DeBarge: Remembering A Real Singer

Now, here is a singer that was a strong influence on my music and how I go about it. His name is Bobby DeBarge...what an outstanding vocalist - a Real singer. He was the lead singer of “Switch”, a soul group on Motown Records. Once hailed as the new Jackson 5, this group showed creativity and poise...and how to party. But the focal-point was the suave lead singer, Bobby DeBarge, a singer who could switch(pardon the pun) vocal altitudes at will. Bobby is no longer among us, but we carry him always in our hearts. By the way, Bobby DeBarge has a son: Bobby DeBarge Jr. who sings...so watch for him. Bobby thanks for the memories.

Barbra Streisand: The REAL Thing

I want to talk about fake singers, you know, the so-called vocalists and dancers that are always hounding the camera, always seeking attention. They have always been around, they are like worthless by-products from a precious jewel. No...they are not diamonds in the rough(unless you consider a fake diamond real),...uh uh...no, they are like leeches...they try to suck us real recording artists for all that we are. I hate the “biters”, they wouldn’t exist without us - the true singers.

I wrote this post to blast the fake recording artists of the world. I won’t name them, you know who they are. Just think of the “Thriller” himself, Micheal Jackson(Micheal has, by far, the most imitators), or turn on your radio, and I’m sure you will be able to hear one of his many biters or imitators. I have often wondered how he keeps from going nuts with so many people becoming successful singers by pretending to be him. I’ll name his ealiest biter: Donny Osmond. No surprise there, just about every person growing up in the 70s remember Donny Osmond’s rendition of Micheal Jackson. And look at the mormon now - he’s a superstar, and I hear he hates Micheal Jackson. Now, that is ungretfulness. Well...a hater will alway be a hater.

Micheal Jackson meets Donny Osmond:

And don’t forget...poor Micheal Jackson isn’t alone - he’s just the prime target. We have numerous others, too, they copy KISS, Madonna, the Temptations, Alice Cooper, James Brown, Whitney Houston, and many more. There is a lot of money in imitation of musical stars - haven’t you seen the fakers cribs, bling and cars on BET and MTV?

As I said, this post was to get my thoughts out on the subject of “biters” out into the open - I really hater these professional imitators - they are a bad part about my industry.

As I’m writing this, I’m watching that great, that wonderful vocalist and recording artist - Miss Barbra Streisand. No faker hear, Barbara Streisand is singing her heart out. This is some show, folks. Fakers, biters - imitate Barbra - I bet you won’t have a good time trying that!! I rest my case.

Prince’s New Album, “LOTUSFLOW3R” - Only At Target

I saw the commercial...I couldn’t believe my eyes...I couldn’t believe my ears...Prince is Prince again with this new joint: LOTUSFLOW3R! When I heard that guitar...I knew it was my homie...I was immediately taken by the strong, electrifying plucking and jagging of the guitar strings... Yes...Yes...it was him, the one and only “PRINCE” and he was back, he was back to the Prince I love and know. This Prince sounds like the original, firey rock/funkmaster I partied with years ago. Prince is back to the singer, the musician I raved about because of his earliest albums. Prince is sounding GREAT!!!

His new sounds are only being sold at Target, so if you don’t shop at Target, please reconsider. Reconsider because if my ears got it right - Target has a “heater” on its hand - this album is Prince at his best. “LOTUSFLOW3R” ain’t no joke. Prince seems to have returned to his true musical genius, the music should put him back into royal status...the Target commercial simply blowed me away...simply blew me away. Prince...sounds like you back, man...you sound like you back.

Where it all began, Prince's first album: "For You"

Rihanna: Chris Brown Can't Love You!

I heard it, I damn near fell out but it was true, Rihanna was attacked by loverboy extrordinaire, Mr. Enforcer, Chris Brown. What kind of gentleman is this Chris Brown? What kind of gentle, loving man would beat on a woman? I think Rihanna needs to be talked to...babygurl is playing with fire to be with Chris Brown again. We all want companionship, but Rihanna, baby, a companion that beats you ain't a companion - that is a danger. You got away this time...count your blessings, Chris Brown's got them problems. Rihanna, he may hurt you worse next time. Think!!!... Think!!!... Think!!!!

And you, Mr. Chris Brown...what can I say? You can't fade what you did to Rihanna, you definitely need counseling, expert counseling. Damn!!! We men already got a bad rap, now here you come along and add to the baggage. Thank you so very much, Chris Brown. Ladies...most men don't hurt women, we will never hit you. Rihanna, you better respect yourself more, darlin', and look for a REAL love, Chris Brown can't possibly love you and hit and beat you like that. Be strong Rihanna, seek love elsewhere, we REAL men are out here...don't settle for less.

DIME TIME: Rihanna

This is that beautiful, Rihanna, wow...what a beauty. As the world now knows, Rihanna has had a little trouble with her financies. Being in the public’s eye, your bisness can easily become everyone’s business....it’s the nature of the beast called the entertainment business. But Rihanna must have expected this....she’s been in the music business for a minute.

That’s one of the reasons I am not completely with the entertainment bis or business, and it’s the primary reason I wouldn’t be in this show business gig if I didn’t truly LOVE it. And from the looks of things, Rihanna is in love with it too - she continues to stay grindin’ - Rihanna refuses to lose. This babygurl just won some American Music Awards...DAMN!, Rihanna you FINE!!! If she doesn’t marry Chris Brown, I’ma marry this dime. Please, folks...don’t tell my Ashanti...OK????

Summer Olympic Champ Michael Phelps’s Secret: Lil Wayne not Speedo Swimwear

Hmmmm....interesting....they kept talking about the Olympic swimmers swimwear, they keep talking about those new age, NASA-tested Speedo swimsuits Micheal Phelps and his Olympic teammates are wearing, the Fastskin LZR Racer. These swear that these sleek, fancy-looking Speedo swimsuits are the reason for the US swimmers’ successes and world record-breaking victories. Well, I got something to say about all this...

Okay, peeps, yeah, thoses Fastskin LZR Racer swimsuits are nice but did any of you catch yesterday’s nightly news on NBC, Michael Phelps was interviewed by NBC's Brian Williams and he said before the swim contest begins he listens to Lil Wayne... Well, there it is...there you have it...straight from the horses mouth... THE SECRET to Summer Olympics swimming champion Micheal Phelfs’s success is Lil Wayne...yes...yes...I know you are dumbfounded to hear this earth-shattering news but I’m only the conveyer, the truth had to be told. Oh, there’s more...just in, “Lil Wayne will be Barack Obama’s Running Mate”. Heeee...Heeeee...okay....okay!!!! I was just joking...okayyy...it was just having some fun. Alright....alright!!!!!

Yes, my noble readers...this was a fun post, mostly for fun... But mind you, Olympc swiming champion, Michael Phelps, could indeed be receiving help besides those Speedos from the sounds of Cash Money’s Lil Wayne, for as we all know music can calm an otherwise tense mind and body - Lil Wayne’s music could be relaxing and energizing Mr. Fhelps to the point of overwhelming victory.

But let’s face it, the ultimate reason for our Summer Olympics swimming champion Micheal Phelfs’s success is himself. Micheal thanks for a job well done.

Prince: That Guy That Worked On A Batman Film Before “The Dark Knight”

Prince Rodgers Nelson is his name and he is from Minneapolis, Minnesota...yes Minnesota Viking territory. Is he a Minnesota Viking? Well, I don’t know about all that but he is most certainly a great guitarist and singer. And he has no association with the mega-hit Batman film “The Dark Knight”, but that isn’t all of what this post is about, it’s about Prince himself.

I been planinng to make a post about Prince for a long time, but somehow I never did. Prince is one of my favorite recording artist and this is certainly a enjoyable post. Prince created music for “Batman”, the first Batman movie, released in 1989, directed by Tim Burton., starring Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson and Kim Basinger. Now look at the franchise Batman has become, sequel after sequel...box office hit after box office hit. DC Comics created a new cinematic category - superheroe films - and today we see a non-stop issuance of these type of films, with rival Marvel at the head.

Prince didn’t supply any music for the current Batman blockbuster “The Dark Knight”, and it seems to be no less without it, it’s breaking box office records. Sorrowfully though, the catalyst for this film’s success seems to be the untimely death of one its main actors, Heath Ledger who played the Joker in “The Dark Knight”. Though his acting was superb, the attention surrounding his death was the reason for the films phenomenal intial success.

The purple lover, Prince is a very handsome, sexy singer who flatters and attracts women with his Pied Piper-like music and performances. I loved this man’s music since I first heard of him. I have his early music and his later releases, I gotta have my Prince. I want to express my gradtitude for the powerful music he has made, and the strong image he provides for any struggling musician out here. Prince believed in himself and so should you. I wasn’t a fan of singers holding guitars until I saw Prince, he made handling that axe seem so awesome. He made me feel his love for the guitar, it was not an instrument but an extention of his very self. I’m a dancer and we dancer hate holding instruments but Prince made me change my mind about playing the duitar, he looks so exciting when he plays his tool.

I urge each and everyone of you to give this music god a thorough listen, listen to “Purple Rain”, listen to some of his earlier joints - then you will see that this guy is worthy of the successful career he has had. Let the Purple One rule, he is a good king.

Keeping My Head In This Music Business

I’m sensing that my quiet life is about to take a violent turn, that what was before will quickly fade away...that attention levels are about to explode. Will I remain the same youngman I am today, or will I become a reclusive music superstar like Micheal Jackson(my mentor)?

Speaking of Micheal Jackson, what is my homie up to? All them skills, all that GAME he got(remember the white glove?)...what the heck is he doing these days? Oh, I know about the Las Vegas situation, or rumor but what about returning to the Billboard charts, his old home? Okak Micheal Jackson...get to it, man.

Back to me...well, I been talking about the fishbowl nature or voyeurism of the show business world - people follow us, photograph us, write and read about us - all for a profit. I hate this part of my profession - the Paparazzi - being my nemesis. These guys stop at nothing to make an entertainer’s life a living hell...they won’t run, or ruin my life, I refuse to let them do that.

Folks, I just wanted to relate some of my thoughts on being a full-fledged recording artist, here we go. I asked for this and here we go....see ya’ll at the Billboard awards...

Ready For The Paparazzi, Fans And Fame

It took me more than a year to complete this album but I did it, and now my life is going to change drastically. Time to get ready for the onslaught of attention and admirers that success in this business attracts. I’m not looking forward to the prying eyes of the paparazzi, they are so intrusive but the public created the paparazzi. The public demands info on celebrities and the famous, the paparazzi is only suppling what the public wants. Still I kinda hate them. well now they will be aiming and following me, it comes with the entertainment territory and I accept it totally. Still I hate it, though.

Prediction: my album will change the music industry, it will be #1 on the billboard charts, it will make me and instant millionaire - this and more will my debut album do. I truly believe that this album is going to do thses things, and in so doing change my quiet live forever. But I’m not complaining, I have chosen to persue show business as a career, no one pushed me into it, I objectively sought to follow this path. I have no regrets, no complain. I am a Rock-N-Roller for life.

What remains to be seen now is the fillment of the above predictions... they as more than accomplishable given my talent and deep understanding of the music business. I know how to make hit music and how to entertain, folks get ready for a wonderful ride, get ready to experience "GLENDELL".

Mariah Carey Is Into Personal Development And Loving It

"Touch My Body"

What did I say in this post?: Mariah Carey Does It Again!, go read it again. Yes, I predicted this current episode of Mariah Carey’s success, it just goes on and on. I said that “Touch My Body” was going to be big, and it is at the top of the charts. My baby Ashanti, keep your head up...you are due for a comeback too, take some time to study Miss. Carey. She has a strong will(she must be into personal development), I like that; she refuses to lose. Ashanti - stay positive baby. Alright, this post is about Mariah Carey isn’t it? So read about what she went through here: Bad news for Mariah.

Mariah Carey's "Glitter"

As we know, Mariah Carey was written-off after the unsuccessful “Glitter”, an album and movie that just didn’t go over well, it shocked the industry and Mariah Carey herself. But boy, how things have changed? She’s back to breaking records and things, Mariah Carey is totally back ya’ll; she’s done it again with “Touch My Body”; I for one knew she would return to her glory, she seems to always give her best, that is what personal development and self-growth is all about: doing your best and overcoming your failures and obstacles. Mariah Carey has made it through her so-called breakdown after the “Glitter” debacle and now she is flying high. Take note peeps, this woman is tough, no doubt. She has triumphed. Alright Mariah.

Peter Frampton We Still Love Ya!

Talk about guitarist and not a bad singer either, Peter Frampton was one great axeman, before a live audience or in the studio he was simply magnificent. I can remember him being interviewed on some television show along with KISS, man, did I enjoy those interviews, they came across as real people who just happen to make music. I remember wanting to be them during and after that show; I was left in awe by these musical geniuses. Peter Frampton and KISS showed their purely human side, the side we rarely get to see.

Peter Frampton’s vocal effect is back again, today we have the artist T-Pain(an artist whose talent can’t be denied) before T-Pain we had Roger Troutman, all users of the voicebox made famous by one Peter Frampton, who showchased it on “Do You Feel Like I Do?”. Oh and let’s not forget about Cher and her No.1 “hit” just a little while ago. In the seventies when Mr. Frampton made his “Frampton Comes Alive!“ album no one was doing that trick; that I’m aware of, but I suspect Peter Frampton got it from somebody. Please inform me. But all-n-all I say T-Pain and Roger Troutman got the idea from hearing Peter Frampton. I’d love to hear Peter’s opinion of the two recording artist, I know he has something to say about it - look - he should, he’s the guy who made it big.

Peter Frampton is still performing, and yes, it’s true... he hasn’t been able to return to the whirldwind success of his former years but still he carrys on. I for one, truly respect him for that - it shows that he is in the business because he loves playing his guitar and making music. Hey, you can see him in a Geico commercial though, so who knows. Maybe he can do it again - but we will surely miss seeing him with long golden locks, though.

My Music Album Is On The Way

OK, this is a progress report, my debut album is very close to finishing. Yes, it’s true, I know I’ve been saying this for months now but this time it’s real. Before, I told the truth as I saw it then, but circumstances always got in the way of making music. So finising the album kept being delayed. Also, keeping this blog up-to-date and promoting my art website take alot of time away from my music. I’m a very busy businessman, indeed.

Being songwriter, musician, producer and singer is hard but love-filled work. Those are my occupations in making this album, I wanted every song to cause an effect on the listener and I know this music will do that. I carefully selected some of my best musical creation for this first album. My fans are going to love the hard work I put into making this record. The making of this album was a labor of love, and very soon I hope to have each and everyone of you enjoy it. Thanks for staying tuned! I’m so excited!

Mariah Carey Does It Again!

Mariah Carey

She’s at it again...Mariah Carey is making ”hits” again. Say what you want about her, Mariah Carey is delivering top quality music. Her last album had one song that pushed the rest of the album,”The Emancipation of Mimi”, to the top of the charts. “The Emancipation of Mimi” launched with a new and unexpected sound for Mariah Carey with the song, "We Belong Together", this song was a musical gem. She and Jermaine Dupree produced one hell of a tune when they made "We Belong Together". I predicted after hearing that song, that she would be back in the winner’s circle. What happened? ”The Emancipation of Mimi” went on to become a huge selling album, selling in the millions.

”The Emancipation of Mimi”

Cut to the present, the year 2008, Mariah Carey is about to serve up her next helping. And from the look of things, oh excuse me...from the sound of things, our ears are going to eat up this delicious audio feast. Today I caught her lastest song, ”Touch My Body”, she has definitely done it again. I’m crediting the “off the chain” producer and record mogul, Jermaine Dupree, for this outstanding recording. “Touch My Body” will be a giant “hit” song. Mariah Carey has done it again peoples, she continues to send-off her current installments with powerful lead singles. Just like "We Belong Together", ”Touch My Body” is going to throw her soon to be released album in to the stratosphere.

Props To My Man, Boy George

Do you guys remember Boy George? Yeah, I also had to get pass the appearance. But man, he had a wonderful and original voice. Boy George had this strong yet melodic style of singing. He really could sing; most of his ‘joints’ I liked. He song in a very deep and soulful way, his voice convinced me that he feel music deeply like myself.

To day we don’t hear many Boy George’s - talent is getting less and less available. One would think that the radio stations and record companies are orchestrating some kind of diabolical attack on our precious ears given the low quality of the music we are forced to hear these days. Boy George, represents a quality and uniqueness rarely presented today. Listen to some Boy George today.
